Talbina and Oat Porridge

Oat and Barley Flour Porridge is a hearty, wholesome, and nourishing breakfast option that’s perfect for starting your day with a boost of energy. Combining the creamy texture of oats with the subtle nutty flavour of barley flour, this porridge is packed with fibre, vitamins, and minerals to keep you feeling full and satisfied. Whether you top it with fresh fruits, nuts, or a drizzle of honey, this versatile dish is as delicious as it is healthy. Ideal for busy mornings or cozy weekend breakfasts, it’s a comforting way to fuel your day.

Serves 1

Ingredients

2 heaped tbsp Talbina (Cinnamon and Date Sugar)
250 ml Milk
2 chopped Dates
1 tsp Chia Seeds
1 tsp Cacao or Cocoa Powder
1/8 - 1/4 tsp ground All Spice or sub Cardamom
1 tbsp Nut Butter (Peanut or Almond)
45g Rolled Oats

Fruit Compote

100g Mixed Frozen Fruit
1 tbsp Sugar 
1/2 tsp Vanilla 
1/4 tsp ground Cinnamon
2 tbsp Water

Toppings

Mixed Seeds
Strawberries
Bananas
Honey or Maple Syrup

Instructions

Add all the ingredients for the Talbina and Oat bowl to a pot and simmer gently over medium low heat for 5 minutes, mixing at intervals to ensure it isn’t sticking to the bottom of the pot. Remove to a bowl.
Add all the ingredients for the fruit compote to a pot and bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat for 4-5 minutes.
Add the compote and toppings to the Porridge.

Variations

Use Tahini instead of Nut Butter.
